STORY
As a lover of exceptional coffee, you are probably familiar with the renowned Geisha/Gesha varietal. This highly sought-after and unique coffee originated in the Gori Gesha forest, Ethiopia, though it is now grown in several other nations in Africa, Asia, and the Americas. It is revered for its unique flavour profile of floral and sweet notes, and of course, its exclusivity as the demand has increased over the years.

Near central Mexico's Gulf Coast, you will find El Equimite, a 32-hectare fully Biodynamic farm, operated by a team of true visionaries.

El Equimite is part of Bios Comunidad Sustentable (Bios Sustainable Community) and one of the only two Demeter Certified Biodynamic farms in Mexico. They are located in Coatepec, Veracruz, with 12 hectares under cultivation for coffee and agroforestry, and 20 hectares are dedicated to the restoration and preservation of a healthy local ecosystem. Every lot produced is a micro-lot, grown and processed with competition in mind. The post-harvest is carried on at the farm and the team is experimenting with many types of fermentation and process.

The mission of El Equimite includes defining, then redefining the upper-end of what’s possible when it comes to quality in Mexico, and sharing this knowledge with their network. El Equimite, as a model farm, is one part of a larger network that includes education, a bio-tourism lodge, Montesorri school, an exporter, and a team of cuppers entrenched in partner cooperatives throughout the country.

ROAST DAYS
We roast and despatch internet orders on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All orders placed after 11:00 on Thursday will be roasted and despatched the following Tuesday.

PACKAGING
All our packaging for the coffee including the inner freshness bag is carbon neutral and can be fully recycled in perpetuity.

SUPPORTING GOOD CAUSES
In addition to various initiatives at origin, a portion of the sales is going towards select Access & Outreach programmes here at home, specifically aimed at underprivileged and underrepresented school-age children to create opportunities and inspire them to strive for educational betterment.
